Mohammed is a South African native who moved to the USA in August 2000 as visiting faculty and cultural ambassador. He joined Guilford Technical Community College’s Continuing and Adult Education division in January 2011 where he coordinated the Distance Learning program for essential skills. Mohammed has since moved to Wake Technical Community College where he serves as ABE Intake Coordinator for the College of Career Readiness. Additionally, he now consults widely for a UK based consulting firm on trending ABE issues and is also a Visiting Professor for the University of the District of Columbia where he teaches Adult Education Foundations, Principles and Philosophies to Masters Students seeking licensure in the field. Mohammed is passionate about Historical Inquiry and its intersection with race, class, gender and ability. He has a B.Sc degree in Education Law & Management and a M.Sc degree in Adult Education. Mohammed completed his Doctoral coursework in Adult & Continuing Education at Chicago’s National Louis University. His dissertation examines Liberatory Adult Education particular to the case of South Africa and the trajectory of self-ethnic pride, critical theory and popular education through the process. Mohammed has three kids and enjoys reading, a good movie, soft music and traveling.
